  • I'm preparing a traditional Swedish holiday dinner and I'd like you to join me for a night of feasting and merriment.

    Are you Swedish?

A little bit. Also - my first email in middle school was SwedishChef12@gmail.com, so this feels like destiny.

    Why are you doing this?

I've been interested in Swedish Christmas traditions ever since I read the American Girl Doll book series about Kirsten the Swedish immigrant. Swedes are nice, happy, and progressive people, so I figured they might know a thing or two about celebrating the holidays.

What sort of food will you be serving?

Swedes love potatoes, cheese, and fish. I can easily incorporate vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free options into the menu, so give me a text if you or your guest has dietary restrictions.

    Can I bring anything?

    Yes, three things:

A wrapped gift for an exchange. $5 maximum value.

A mug for your own glogg. And no, I will not clarify what glogg is…

    An open mind :)

  • It was a night to remember!

The morning of the event, my oven broke, so I cooked most of the food in a friend’s kitchen. It was my very own episode of Cutthroat Kitchen.

Theme: 5/5 (This predated Midsommar… I was on to something…)

Execution: 3.5/5 (The oven failed me, but the seating arrangement for 22 people in my very petite living room? To this day, I can’t find a scientific explanation for that!)

The only picture taken that night. My friend Taelor acted as sous chef.
